Master Tam’s trip to China, March 2010
In March 2010, several universities in China have invited Master Tam, a visiting professor, to talk about Tibetan Buddhism. At Zhejiang University and Nanjing University, one of the highlights of his lectures was on the Comparative Study of Western Philosophy and the Tathagatagargha Doctrine.
He also visited several monasteries and met with highly respected monks and nuns to discuss Zen and Tibetan Buddhism. At Putuo Shan, one of the 4 sacred mountains in China, he gave a talk on Tibetan Buddhism to a group of monks, nuns and pilgrims.
In addition to this whirlwind tour, he also squeezed in 2 art exhibitions. One was at Tianyige ancient library in Ningbo and the other at Xilin Society of Seal Arts in Hangzhou to showcase his paintings, calligraphy and seal crafting to much fanfare and media coverage.

Feb 14th
Chinese New Year is a festive celebration according to a lunisolar calendar that starts on the first day and ends on the 15th day of the first month. This year it happens to coincide with valentine's day Feb 14th. It is a celebration of family getting together with a big feast after a year's of hard work.
The non-Chinese students paid a visit to Master Tam and for most of them, it is their first cultural experience celebrating Chinese New Year. They were treated with auspicious goodies, candied lotus, kumquats, watermelon seeds, glutinous rice cakes. They get to see Master Tam paint his signature idyllic mountains and lake. He shares stories of Chinese New Year during his childhood, how they talked about the good deeds of their ancestors – 5 generations away to inspire the young ones to follow.
